What I thought was a trip home for Spring Break has now turned into a permanent residence for the foreseeable future. To try and help my abysmal productivity levels, I set up an “office” in our guest bedroom (complete with a folding card table and my desk chair that hasn’t been used in years). Luckily, I was able to face my set-up towards the two windows in the room, and the other day I took this picture and felt like it was a great representation of my current mood surrounding this pandemic. I saw a perfectly normal scene of my neighborhood, but there was some darkness, some shadow, that hung over us all. I get an overwhelming sense of normalness from this picture, but then I realize that nothing about this scenario is normal - in no world did I imagine that I would be sitting in class in my home guest bedroom in a makeshift office, all because a pandemic forced me to leave my beloved college town and friends.
